reboot was in the works, but it seems that MGM and Warner
Bros have finally found a director to helm the new Tomb
Raider reboot.
According to the good folks over at THR, Norwegian filmaker
Roar Uthaug will attempt to get the new franchise of the
ground.
The last Tomb Raider movies which starred Angalina Jolie
as the popular video game character Lara Croft in 2001 and
the sequel in 2003 where largely unsuccessful. So what
will Uthaug bring to the new reboot?
Well Uthaug last helmed the disaster movie TAhe Wave,
which seemed to have drawn a mixed response on the
festive circuit, but regardless how critics felt, it seems the
studio must be big fans of his work to trust him with a
property as huge as Tomb Raider.
Uthaug will possibly be joined by Geneva Robertson-Dworet
who at this time is in negotiations to pen the screenplay to
the reboot.
